Best Resend alternatives

Resend is excellent at what it does — the best developer experience in the category, and React Email is genuinely the nicest way to build templates. Teams look elsewhere for reasons that are usually about scope or price rather than quality: they want a broader marketing suite, cheaper infrastructure economics at volume, or a smaller operating surface with harder compliance gates.

Why teams leave

  • Sending and marketing are billed as two products, so needing both means roughly $60 a month at modest usage.
  • Marketing tooling is deliberately light — no landing pages, forms, or branching automation.
  • At high transactional volume the per-message cost is well above raw infrastructure.

The options

1SendKernel

One small team needing transactional sending and consented broadcasts in a single workspace.

Pricing
$18/mo for 50,000 emails, $36/mo for 5,000 contacts, $54 for both.
The catch
No landing pages, forms, or automation journeys, and no dedicated IP at any price. Sending is blocked entirely until SPF, DKIM, and DMARC pass.

2Amazon SES

Teams with engineers to own identities, events, suppression, monitoring, and abuse controls.

Pricing
About $0.10 per thousand messages, no monthly minimum.
The catch
You build everything above the relay — contact storage, unsubscribe endpoints, bounce processing, and a dashboard. Six to ten engineering weeks before the first campaign.

3Postmark

Transactional delivery where diagnostics and stream separation matter more than newsletter tooling.

Pricing
From about $15/mo for 10,000 messages, overage near $1.80 per thousand.
The catch
Expensive above roughly 10,000 messages a month, and it does not store audiences or run broadcasts.

4Brevo

A large list mailed occasionally, where volume pricing beats per-contact pricing and you want automation included.

Pricing
Free tier around 300 messages a day; paid plans from roughly $9/mo.
The catch
A much broader suite than Resend, so there is more product to learn than most API-first teams want.

5MailerSend

Teams that want transactional email beside MailerLite's marketing ecosystem.

Pricing
Free tier available; paid plans in the low tens of dollars.
The catch
Two products and two accounts if you need marketing as well, which is the same split people leave Resend to avoid.

Moving your list

Export audiences as CSV and take the suppression list separately — it is the file people forget, and skipping it means mailing someone who already opted out. Publish the new provider's DKIM records alongside Resend's; a domain carries multiple selectors happily, so both work while you test.

Questions people actually ask

Is there a cheaper alternative to Resend?
Yes, in both directions. Amazon SES is roughly a quarter of the per-message cost if you will build the layer above it. Among platforms, the differences are modest — most sit within about 10% of each other at comparable usage — so the larger savings usually come from picking the right billing model rather than the cheapest vendor.
What is the closest product to Resend?
Ours is deliberately close in shape: the same split between a sending product and a marketing product, priced about 10% under. The genuine difference is philosophical rather than functional — we enforce authentication and compliance as hard gates, which removes a category of mistake and occasionally refuses a send you wanted to make.
Can I keep React Email if I move?
Yes. React Email renders to plain HTML, so the output works with any provider that accepts an HTML body — which is all of them. You lose the integrated tooling and previews, not the templates themselves.
