Resend is an excellent transactional email API with the best developer experience in the category. It bills sending and marketing as two products. We do the same — you can buy either one — at about 10% under their list prices, with an assistant that operates the account and compliance that cannot be skipped.

Mailchimp is the default choice for marketing email and has by far the deepest feature set — landing pages, ecommerce integrations, a template gallery, and automation journeys. You pay for all of it whether or not you use it, and transactional email is a separate paid add-on.

This product runs on SES, so the comparison is really about whether you want to build the layer above it. SES is astonishingly cheap and gives you nothing else: no contact storage, no unsubscribe handling, no suppression logic, no templates, no dashboard, no compliance enforcement.

Kit is built for creators selling newsletters, courses, and digital products. SendKernel is narrower: transactional email and consent-first broadcasts in one operational workspace. Pick Kit for creator commerce and mature automations; pick SendKernel when sending infrastructure and enforced deliverability controls are the job.

MailerLite is a strong, affordable newsletter suite with forms, landing pages, automations, and editors. SendKernel does fewer things and treats deliverability controls as hard gates. Choose MailerLite for marketing production tools; choose SendKernel for a unified transactional and broadcast sending layer.

SendGrid is the incumbent, owned by Twilio, and it is cheaper than us at the entry point — Marketing Campaigns starts around $15 at 5,000 contacts against our $36. Where the comparison turns is further in: on SendGrid's API plans, marketing and transactional sends draw down the same monthly cap, overage bills rather than stops, and nothing requires DMARC before you send.

Postmark has the best delivery diagnostics in the category and a genuinely good idea in message streams, which keep transactional and broadcast traffic apart. It is also priced for low volume: around $15 for 10,000 messages with overage near $1.80 per thousand, so 50,000 messages costs roughly $87 where our sending plan is $18.

Brevo has the most useful free tier in this category — around 300 messages a day, roughly 9,000 a month, with API access — and it bills by volume rather than by contact, which makes it excellent value for a large list you mail occasionally. It is also a much broader product than ours, with automation, SMS, and a light CRM. We are narrower, cheaper at higher transactional volume, and stricter about what we will let you send.
