The email preflight checklist that should run before every send

A practical checklist for identity, consent, suppression, quotas, and reputation before transactional or marketing email leaves your system.

A send button should not be a leap of faith. Before a message leaves, the system should know who is sending, why each recipient is eligible, whether the domain is authenticated, and whether recent delivery signals are healthy.

Start with identity: the From domain must match a domain you control, and SPF, DKIM, and DMARC should all pass. Then check consent and suppression. Marketing recipients need a recorded opt-in source, while every unsubscribe, hard bounce, and complaint must be excluded across the entire account.

Finally, check volume and reputation. Compare the send with daily and monthly limits, flag sudden jumps, and stop automatically when complaints or hard bounces cross your thresholds. The safest control is the one every interface shares, so an API call cannot bypass what the dashboard enforces.
